time marches on...

Hello Leech cousins,
I know that it has been awhile since I checked in with the blog, but I thought I would stop in and give an update. I bought my first home in January, so have been very busy with that. Good thing that Amanda and Dad are so handy, they have been a big help. In fact, I think Dad ripped up the living room carpet and kitchen linoleum (which was hiding beautiful hardwood floors) by himself. I have also helped out a few friends over the years as they purchased homes and/or moved, so I called in a few favours too ;) I hope to get some after pictures taken soon (Amanda took some 'before' shots) so that I can show you all the transformation. I hope to have the local family members in for a housewarming this spring.
Now that the weather is warming up a bit I am getting excited to see what plants are in my yard, and hopefully will have a small vegetable garden. My grandfathers all seem to have a talent for growing things, and Amanda has a good track record too. Dad however has never been able to grow much other than tomatoes so I guess time will tell on that one!
To close out I will leave you with a quick note to request some extra prayers for my dad (some of you may know him as 'Uncle Gene'). He has to go and have some tests done and possibly a minor procedure at the hospital in Saint John this week.

What's Up With the Rombs Family

Hi Guys,
I enjoyed reading Gabby's post and I hope more of you will start posting soon! I hope to keep this blog updated more in the future but most of you know this is a busy time of year for me. Next Friday, September 25th is Salute to Teachers, an event I coordinate that takes place at the Founder's Inn in Virginia Beach. I'm having a lot of fun putting together gift bags for the teachers and working on the seating chart, program order, etc.

Teagan has been having fun visting with her Memaw (Jason's mom), my friend Brie, Grammie, Grampie, Auntie Lu, and Uncle Clay while I'm working. Jason is very excited to pick her up from Grammie's a few days next week and have her all to himself for a few hours!

I'm trying to hold off on making a FB photo album of Teagan at 10 months until we're actually further into her tenth month, but above is a little preview. Last weekend she got in some play time with cousin Kierstin (who is walking now!) and she also let my dress her up in a head band and leggings for a little 80's dance look.
Bye for now :)

Musings of a unemployed graduate

As a sit on the couch and type type type I can hear the constant and delirious laughter of Christeena, our little princess, as Danielle tickles her incessantly and mercilessly. This laughter is interspersed with monkey noises and the sound of books hitting the floor. Mum is playing music on the computer, trying to decide which Leeland song she will post next on face book. I told her my favorite one....she will probably get bored before the songs ends and decide on another one......I was right btw, the song was stopped prematurely. Julie Andrews singing do re mi now fills our living room as we prepare to dance our hearts out.

Our house changes color each day as something new is painted. Today it was the master bedroom!! It is now a lovely Little Boy Blue. Daddy hasn't seen it yet. haha

I though that when I post I would always try to leave you with something to better you physically and intellectually and musically and something, of course, to better our hearts!! So here is what I've come up with for today.

Physically,
http://www.makeupgeek.com/browse-idea-gallery/

meet makeup geek. This is just the first day that I've been on this website, but I am excited. So many colors and creative make up ideas. She can also be found on youtube and there are videos that will teach you how to do these styles. I realize that you ladies where minimal makeup, but these will be fun to learn anyway, even if just for costume parties!!

Intellectually,
Sonnet 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
Oh no! It is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to ever wandering bark
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
- William Shakespeare

Whoa baby! What a man! This is my favorite sonnet. Something that just grabs my heart and squeezes tight each time I read a sonnet is the number of beats. There are 70 beats in a sonnet and it takes about one minute to read. A humans heart beats approximately 70 times per minute. Isn't that beautiful!! The heart, the piece of a human that flutters with joy in the early days of love and aches at the thought of losing love, the very thing that keeps us alive through it's beats...keeps perfect time with a Shakespearean sonnet. Now tell me that doesn't make you want to swoon!!!

Musically,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jg1jBuInMqA

Here I introduce to you Leeland. This is the aforementioned song that mum didn't finish listening to.
This is from their cd "The Sound of Melodies"
Pure musical brilliance!

Heart beats,
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen priesthood, a royal priesthood,, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness and into His wonderful light.

I love knowing that I am chosen, wanted, and loved by God. I love knowing that I belong to him. It gives the most wonderful sense of security, something that does not exist here on earth. I love that we live in the light!!

Teagan's 9 Month Stats/Milestones

Teagan had her 9 month dr. visit today. She's growing up so fast, she got to pick a toy from the little basket when we left. She actually fished around and grabbed a pink dinosaur, it was so cute. Her doctor gave her a book with kid's faces in it, which she loves. We have pictures of Ava, Ethan, Cole, Eli, her cousin Kierstin, and some of her friends on our fridge and she loves to look at them and point. She usually points to herself first and says "Oh!"

Here is some info about Teagan at 9 months-

Weight: 18 lbs 3oz

Height: 27.25 inches

Favorite toys: Baby dolls and magnets

Favorite books: Pat the Bunny, Dora the Explorer series, anything with pop ups, anything with cardboard pages so she can turn them while mommy reads

Favorite foods: Peas, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, mac n cheese and colby cheese (not a big fan of fruit but she'll still eat it)

That's all for now. I'm glad to see some new authors and I hope you guys will update us with what's going on in your lives soon. :)

I thought this blog could use some color so I'm experimenting with adding photos. The first one is the most recent one we have of the 3 of us- Jason, Ashley, and Teagan. The second one is of Teagan playing this afternoon while I tidied up and prepped dinner. We had her Uncle Shane (Jason's younger brother) over for dinner because he is getting ready to go back for his junior year of college this weekend. We won't see him again until Thanksgiving! Or maybe homecoming if we can make it...we'll see. :)
P.S. It's really easy to add photos. Once you are signed in and looking at this blog go to "new post" at the top right. Once you open the post area you'll see a place for fonts, colors, alignment, and toward the right is the place to select "add image." I selected "medium" for the size of these photos. Let me know if I need to explain it better.

Links

The easiest way I've found to put "clicky links" in the blog is to actually go to the page you want to add, highlight the link and paste it into the blog.
